Example of Family Tree For LDS Missionaries

Example of Family Tree For LDS Missionaries

Did you know that LDS missionaries are requested to bring a four generation genealogy chart on their mission? My husband Kesler did from his own mission, but this was news to me until several months ago when my little brother A go his mission call (Buenos Aires, Argentina woot, woot!) We were in the middle of building Family Tree Prints at the time, so of course, we made him a snazzy chart to laminate and tuck in his scriptures.

He picked out the template he liked best (his choice was Sea Charcoal, but this example uses Natural Stem) and then I was able to use my FamilySearch credentials to create his chart since it's the same as mine after swapping out the center person!

As Kesler and I thought about how to make this four generation genealogy chart even more meaningful for A, a scripture came to my mind: Doctrine and Covenants 84:88 given to Joseph Smith at the time that elders were starting to come back from missions in the Eastern States. It reads:

And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up.

Believing that if possible it would be A's ancestor angels who would come to assist him, we thought this would be the perfect addition to his chart. You can use the Text Decal tab to do this--you'll just have to keep your chosen quote to 2 lines, and play around with it a bit (change the font size and how you distribute the words between the two lines) to make it fit!
